I'm getting massive sounding drums now whereas before they were just passable. SD3 has a midi editor built in and well as the edit styles feature of EZD2.įor me it was money well spent. I found the process tedious so I never bothered after the first few times. I could always get close to what I wanted that way, but to get it exact you had to import into an midi editor and do your adjustments there. Then copy and paste, use different grooves for the chorus/bridge. Then you can edit it by for example changing the power hand from the hi hat to the ride, turn a dial to add more snare hits, change from crash cymbal to china, etc. You start with something in their groove library, like maybe hard rock 140 bpm or whatever. I don't know how much you've read up about EZD2 but the way you make songs is pretty cool. What I love though is that you can use both Edit Style and a MIDI grid to build your grooves. SD3 blows away EZD2 with respect to features, but honestly most of it is stuff I won't use. If you get a chance to listen with headphones or good speakers, compare how much better the hi hat and cymbals sound in SD3.0 and how the kick and snare pop. You could probably get by in EZ2 without buying any expansion pack, but I found the stock metal kit pretty lacking.

And I am saying that at the same time as saying EZdrummer is a great product. EZdrummer cannot hold a candle to what SD3 is capable of. The problem with SD was that you had to buy expansion packs to do certain genres of music.ĮZdrummer2 and SD3 is not a fair comparison. The fact that you get 6 drumkits AND electronic drum samples in one package is extremely good. Really in depth stuff.įrom the little understanding I have of SD3, it's basically trying to converge everything together into one large package. Superior Drummer had a lot more options to tweak things. Same samples as Superior Drummer 2, just easier to use out of the box. Reaper is a brilliant choice for a guitarist, and band work in general.
